My Therapeutic Approach
I focus on creating a warm, creative and accepting environment where clients can feel safe and encouraged to engage in art, play and self-exploration.

I work from a humanistic, trauma informed, strengths based and neurodiversity affirming perspective that is integrated and holistic. This means I am flexible and responsive to each individual’s needs and often utilise a mix of different modalities, always guided by the client.
The expressive arts are a wonderful way to tap into the unconscious mind, access repressed or traumatic memories, process emotions and facilitate integration and healing. Art Therapy can assist in a journey of self-discovery, validate your unique strengths, build courage and visualise/manifest the future you want. Art, music and dance can all communicate far beyond verbal expression.
Beyond the healing powers of creativity and mindfulness, Art Therapy can help with physical, emotional, cognitive and psychosocial development and wellbeing.
Art Therapy can be beneficial for clients with:
-
Anxiety & depression
-
Low self-esteem
-
Autism, ADHD & PDA
-
Stress
-
Trauma & PTSD
-
Selective mutism
-
Family/relationship issues
-
Eating disorders
-
Social and behavioural concerns
-
School refusal/anxiety/trauma
Anyone can participate in Art Therapy and no artistic experience is required. It is the process that is important, not the finished product.
While counselling is usually a fairly traditional ‘talk based’ therapy, I do like to mix it up a bit and I'm not your traditional counsellor.
Talking may suit some people just fine, but I’m client-led and there are always the options to involve some art, sensory play or sand-tray work. Or an immersive walk and talk in the forest. Whatever works!
My approach is strengths-based and humanistic, meaning I respect every individual’s inherent and unique wisdom, worth and abilities. We will work together on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment to develop your full potential.

This may include aspects of Cognitive & Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy.
I can tailor affordable small group workshops in your home, school, workplace or community centre.
The focus may be on utilising art as therapy. ie. Engaging in process arts is beneficial for mindfulness, relaxation and stress reduction.
Alternatively, group work can also focus on more therapeutic outcomes such as confidence, self esteem, self-awareness/reflection, goal-setting, conflict resolution, team building or professional development.
