Eliza Phillips
I have lived in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges for over 20 years. I now live and work in Avonsleigh with my husband, 2 children and a few fluffy friends including Toby the Cavoodle. He's still a puppy now but would like to begin his therapy dog training soon!
I originally felt drawn to this work as I was watching my own children struggling with big emotions and behaviours. Our family has lived experience of autism, anxiety and school refusal (which I prefer to call school can’t, because “Kids do well when they can” Ross Greene).

As an art teacher and CRT for over 20 years I have also observed so many kids struggling with anxiety, big emotions, autism, ADHD, PDA/ODD, dysregulation, family violence, bullying, low self-esteem, eating disorders, self-harm, learning disabilities/delays and trauma. I have also seen the benefits of art, of creating a safe non-judgemental space, and by simply understanding with kindness and compassion that all behaviours have a reason and are often a significant part of children’s communication.

At Forest Heart I have combined all things creative, playful and therapeutic to provide a calm, safe space for families to seek support and be deeply valued as individuals. I love getting to know young people and working with their strengths and passions.

I have worked in Primary and Secondary schools, art studios, private clinical practice and youth organisations. Children and creativity have both always been significant parts of my life. My own arts practice is a continually evolving and experimental process and has often served as a lifeline in difficult times.

I am fully registered and insured through the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). I undertake clinical supervision, peer supervision and maintain professional development. I am also a member of ANZACATA.

I am also registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). I am a qualified and registered teacher and have a current Working with Children Check and Criminal Records Check.
